Why 'Family Guy' is postmodern

The t.v sitcom show "Family Guy" is postmodern because the show breaks the fourth wall, blurs reality & fantasy & inter-textuality.

Breaking the fourth wall: The show Family Guy is postmodern because the show breaks the fourth wall.Breaking the fourth wall is when a character of the show stops being apart of the show and narrate towards the audience, which is something the main character Peter Griffin does a'lot, like when in the middle of the show he introduces the singer Mr.Conway Twitty.

Reality & Fantasy: Family guy  shows reality & fantasy by things they do, like one scene peter could be all beat up since he gets into a fight with the giant chicken all the time then when it skips over to the next scene he all better. And giving brain the dog ability to talk is a fantasy because obviously that wouldn't happen in the real world.

Inter-Textuality: An example of inter textuality in family family is, when they did the star wars episode, its like a spoof but it follows the story line of the actual movie. They put there own spin on the characters & make there personality more funny & feminine. And they also made fun of other shows & movies like C.S.I 7 the movie Taken.

  1. I really enjoyed your post, I understood very clearly your point of view of postmodern, the picture with Peter and the chicken was really interesting. The fact he moves from different places and comes back beat up the next minute of the show hes fine, like nothing happened.
